Many analysts had underestimated the US inflation.

The Citi US inflation surprise index showed that the real US inflation exceeded many analysts' projections in February 2023.  We could also infer from this chart that the FED governors had underestimated the US inflation too.  Thus, it is safer for the US FED to hike by 50bp for the March FOMC.  The next week economic statistics will be critical for the upcoming FOMC decision.
