US rig count - 1055

HOUSTON, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- The number of active drilling rigs in the United States increased by seven to 1,055 this week, or 119 more than that this time last year, showed weekly data released by Baker Hughes on Friday.
The Houston-based oilfield services company reported that the U.S. state of Louisiana and Pennsylvania led the gain with increasing by three rigs, while Texas decreased by three to 525.
The number of rigs operating in U.S. oil fields gained seven to a total of 867 rigs this week, and more than half of the oil rigs were located in the Permian Basin region of western Texas and southeastern New Mexico. The number of rigs drilling for gas remained level at 186 this week. The count of miscellaneous rigs held steady at two.
Oil prices settled mixed on Friday as traders assessed the potential impact of U.S. sanctions on Iran.
The West Texas Intermediate for October delivery rose 40 U.S. cents to settle at 68.99 dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, while Brent crude for November delivery lost 9 cents to 78.09 dollars a barrel on the London ICE Futures Exchange.
