Singapore stock calls for 31 May 2017

Artificial intelligence will destroy more jobs than it creates.

Many displaced workers won't be able to fit in this new industrial revolution and can no longer find jobs but our government is not forthcoming about this.  Training and re-training will no longer help those displaced workers to find jobs as humans cannot work 24/7 and are not as effective as AI machines.

http://www.marketwatch.com/story/this-is-how-many-us-jobs-robots-and-automation-will-create-over-the-next-10-years-2017-04-04

MIT University research showed that every 1 robot added would displace 6 human workers.  AI machines will create 15m new jobs in USA but also destroy 25m jobs simultaneously.  The net effect will be a job loss of 10m which is tantamount to 10m displaced humans without jobs.  These 10m humans won't be able to work and will create a new social problem.

USA has a warped viewpoint of the world.

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-australia-usa-mccain-idUSKBN18Q0WZ

USA accused China of being a bully in South China Sea.  What a joke! USA should look at itself first.

Was USA President a bully when he shoved another PM in public and he didn't feel ashamed at all?

https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/3664712/donald-trump-g7-summit-shove-montenegro-prime-minister-latest-news/

Was USA a bully when it installed more military weapons in SK without permission?  Doing so was a big disgrace and humiliation to SK.

http://sg-stock.blogspot.sg/2017/05/south-korea-is-no-longer-sovereignty.html

The bottom line is when you are a superpower country, you can just do as you please and everything you do is justifiable.  This is the value USA is spreading to the world.

When you are fit, you can do amazing stunts!

The importance of staying fit in old age helps you to remain healthy.

South Korea is no longer a sovereignty.

http://en.people.cn/n3/2017/0530/c90000-9221978.html

South Korea is no longer a sovereignty because the USA can install any military system in South Korea without any permission.

What's the use of the investigation when SK dares not do anything to USA?  It's just a political show for its citizens to see.

Thailand to take on Singapore for MRO.

http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/asiapacific/thailand-plans-us-5-7b-upgrade-of-civil-military-airport-to-take-8891530

Thailand will have no problem raising funds because even if they can't raise enough fund in Canada, they can approach China.  China will be very eager to help Thailand so that it can take on SG.  We are facing unfriendly neighbours now because we are the only country in ASEAN that is anti-China.

Germany's Merkel: US and UK are unreliable partners.

https://sg.news.yahoo.com/merkel-warns-us-britain-no-longer-reliable-partners-143042162.html

Hahaha! It took so long for Germany to realize that US & UK are unreliable partners.

Germany is too weak to stand on its own now.  Its military prowess is not as strong as before because it lacks fighter planes, tanks and missiles.  Germany has to form strategic alliances with other countries to fight against US & UK.

USA is lying again! USA is really a congenital liar!

http://en.people.cn/n3/2017/0528/c90000-9221691.html

USA spy plane was intercepted by 2 China J-10 fighter plane in HK airspace but proclaimed publicly that it was flying in international airspace.  What a joke!  Everyone has radar now and either side can show its location on radar for the world to see.

It's getting harder to trust USA nowadays.

How to determine a baby gender without using ultrasound?

There is an ancient Chinese numerical methodology to calculate a baby gender and it is extremely accurate in the gender prediction but it's not 100% correct.  If you calculate the number to be even but the baby is a boy instead, it means the boy has a female personality. Likewise for the odd number but it turns out to be a baby girl, it means the baby girl has a boy personality.

Add the mother's birth giving age first and then the baby's birth month.  If the number sum is odd, it is a boy.  If the number sum is even, it is a girl.

Example:
Mother birth giving age : 24
Baby's birth month : May
Mother = 2 + 4 = 6
Baby = May = 5
Sum = 6 + 5 = 11, 1 + 1 = 2
Final output is 2 which is even, so the baby is a girl.

Mother birth giving age : 31
Baby's birth month : March
Mother = 3 + 1 = 4
Baby = march = 3
Sum = 4 + 3 = 7
FInal output is 7 which is odd, so the baby is boy.

When an obstetrician is able to tell you your baby birth month, you can predict its gender.  Try it and have fun!

This is precisely why SG was taken aback when HK detained our tanks.  SG government didn't even think that HK would do that after making so many anti-China remarks.  Do you really think that China will take it lightly that we conduct military exercise in South China Sea which is at the doorstep of China?  C'mon, Singapore! China's total debt VS USA's total debt. Don't be fooled by the western media.

The western media like to spread fears about China's debt problem and they do this by quoting China's total debt in their analyses.  The western media had been predicting the China collapse for a few years already but China grew stronger economically instead.

Total debt = National debt + Corporation debt.

China's total debt = USD$4.3T (national debt) + USD$25.6T (corporate debt) = USD$30T
China GDP = USD$11T
Total debt to GDP = 270%
Foreign reserve = USD$3T

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_debt_of_China

USA's total debt = USD$19.85 (national debt) + USD$29T (corporate debt) = USD$49T
USA GDP = USD$18T
Total debt to GDP = 270%
Foreign reserve = USD$116B

However, McKinsey estimated that USA total debt to GDP ratio was at 331%.

https://socioecohistory.wordpress.com/2016/01/29/the-29-trillion-corporate-debt-hangover-that-could-spark-a-recession/

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_foreign-exchange_reserves

https://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/2016-china-debt/

The western media like to focus on China's total debt vs USA's national debt when making a comparison between these 2 countries.  The actual fact is both countries have similar total debt to GDP ratio.  However, most China total debt is locally funded whilst USA total debt is foreign funded.  This will make a big difference during any financial crisis as foreign investors will force you for repayments compared to local investors.  Furthermore, China has USD$3T in reserves compared to USD$116B in USA and China's economy is growing at twice of USA's.  Therefore, China's economy will be bigger than USA's in the future.

USA doesn't have any qualms at all for killing civilians in middle east.

https://sg.news.yahoo.com/us-led-strikes-kill-35-civilians-east-syria-002816114.html

However, USA is quick to pinpoint on others for killing civilians especially Russia in middle east.  In the future, Russia can just copy the justifications given by USA when it kills civilians accidentally in any strikes.

How will the reduction in FED 4.5T affect the real economy?

US Fed has USD$4.5T of balance sheet which composes of $2.46T of bonds and $1.77T of mortgage-backed securities (MBS).

As the MBS are mostly longer dated derivatives of at least 10 years, FED won't unwind these MBS in the short run.  Therefore, FED will just let the shorter dated bonds expire and won't reinvest the proceeds into the bond market.  About 50% of the bonds will expire within the next 5 years which amount to USD$1.2T and this means the money market will have a capital outflow of $1.2T.  Furthermore, USA will hike interest rates for the next few years as stated by FED which is tantamount to price hikes in the real economy.  The higher interest rates will cause USD to appreciate so that the purchasing power won't be eroded.  In other words, inflation can be contained in this way.

To surmise, the reduction in money supply and interest rate increments will cause USD to appreciate in the next few years.

OMG! Anti-Singapore propaganda is being broadcasted on China media.

No wonder PM Lee was not invited to the one-belt-one-road summit.  It is useless for 100% of Singapore (5.3m people) to be anti-China because just 10% of China (140m people) hatred of Singapore will drown us already.

Pacific Commander Harris is really stirring troubles in South China Sea.  He deserves to be punished for heightening tension in South China Sea.

Moody's downgraded China credit rating for its own interest.

Basically, Moody's wanted to impede the success of China-HK bond trading link as it didn't participate in the US$9.5T China bond market.  Moody's downgrade of China maybe for a political reason too.

http://www.cnbc.com/2017/05/17/china-hong-kong-bond-trading-scheme-approved-by-regulators.html

There is no convincing reason to downgrade China credit rating while USA maintains AAA rating.

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-ratings-moody-s-idUSKCN0S11AM20151007

USA has a national debt of USD$19.85T without many foreign reserves.

China has a national debt of USD$4.3T and USD$3T foreign reserves.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_debt_of_China

USA debt-to-GDP is 106%.

http://marketrealist.com/2017/03/how-big-is-the-us-debt-compared-to-other-nations/

China debt-to-GDP is 41%.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_debt_of_China

It looks like only the USA can take on debts but other countries cannot because USA is the only resilient country in the world.  Therefore, other countries will collapse if they take on debts because they're not resilient.

Does this make any sense at all?

I hate it when credit rating companies give biased ratings.  US credit rating agencies tend to give better ratings for USA companies.  Just look at Lehman Brothers credit rating given by Moody's before the big collapse.

Fearmongering by western media

https://sg.news.yahoo.com/beijings-weapon-economic-war-chinese-tourists-031202899--finance.html

Every powerful country does it but USA does it more and more severely.

TPP is one good example for USA to wield considerable economic power over other countries and to contain China.

https://www8.gsb.columbia.edu/faculty/jstiglitz/sites/jstiglitz/files/2015%20TPP%20Malaysia.pdf

http://foreignpolicy.com/2015/07/07/9-ways-the-tpp-is-bad-for-developing-countries/

Quote:

That’s because the TPP would create investorstate dispute settlement (ISDS) mechanisms that would allow foreigners to sue the government when they think a regulation will harm their profits. The arbitration would be private and binding, even if the outcome contradicts domestic laws. And the company could be compensated for the loss of its expected profits, not just for its past investments, even if its profits are generated by selling products that kill people and if there is no discrimination involved in the regulation.

End Quote.

This investor-state dispute settlement mechanism was enforced by USA government onto other countries in the TPP agreement.

So tell me now! Which country doesn't use its economic and military prowess on other countries?  If all the super power countries do it, why is there a need to single out China in the western media?

EU rejected TTIP (Europe TPP) because of unreasonable clauses imposed by USA too.

USA has claimed that wannacry ransomware is executed by NK which operates from a China base so that it won't be traced back to NK.  USA has been accusing China for a long time already but this time has shifted the blame to NK.

China can shift the blame to NK for future hackings now because USA has officially declared that NK operates in China.  This is definitely a good excuse for China.

China commercial satellite technology.

Just look at the capability of China 1st commercial satellite, Jilin 1.

These images were from US Nellis Airforce Base in Southern Nevada.

As long as China & Russia don't cooperate together to rein in NK, NK will continue to be defiant.  When NK loses supports from these 2 countries,  NK will be totally isolated and will cower in fear.  This fat Kim must be punished for being so stubborn, ungrateful and defiant.

US defence secretary has stated clearly that military option is not advisable and is seeking a diplomatic solution.  There might be another reason for this decision and it could be that Trump couldn't control its naval forces.

http://sg-stock.blogspot.sg/2017/05/president-trump-is-losing-control-of.html

President Trump is losing control of its naval forces.

US Pacific commander Harry Harris had the audacity to visit East China without President Trump's blessing meant that commander Harry was trying to sow discord between US & China and Trump was losing control of the naval forces.  Commander Harry didn't go to North Korea as instructed by Trump previously which embarrassed Trump.  Trump also rejected Commander Harry's requests to sail to Scarborough Shoal for 3 times because Trump wanted to maintain a good relationship with China.  All these incidents meant that Trump and the naval commander couldn't get along well.

Vietnam is not afraid to offend Taiwan for China to see.

Vietnam fined Formosa for USD$500m.

Vietnam clearly spelt out its one China policy.
http://en.nhandan.com.vn/politics/item/4939802-vietnam-china-issues-joint-communique.html

"The Vietnamese side affirmed to consistently pursue the one-China policy, support the peaceful development of Cross-Strait relations and China’s great cause of unification, and resolutely oppose actions for an “independent Taiwan” in any form. Vietnam does not develop any official ties with Taiwan. The Chinese side welcomes Vietnam’s stance."

What does China give to Vietnam in return?

China involves Vietnam deeply in its grandeur one-belt-one-road initiatives and helps Vietnam to get the financing it badly needs.

Project financing and railway construction.
http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2017-05/15/c_136286256.htm

However, China isolates SG from its one-belt-one-road initiatives because we don't spell out our one-China policy clearly and we help USA to contain China.  The devious Taiwan president even tried to use SG as a pawn against China.  Therefore, we should also use Taiwan as our leverage to get more economic benefits from China but Singapore just doesn't get it.

https://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2017-05-18/singapore-out-in-the-cold-as-southeast-asia-chases-china-cash

China snubbed SG and SG didn't manage to sign any deal with China for the one-belt-one-road initiatives while our neighbour, Malaysia, signed some deals with China during the summit.

http://en.people.cn/n3/2017/0514/c90000-9215022.html

There's also a rumour that SG proposed to engage Japan as the HSR main contractor but Malaysia rejected the notion because it preferred to engage China as HSR main contractor.

Singapore risks being ostracised in ASEAN now because other ASEAN members will have a common topic for discussion (one-belt-one-road) while Singapore will be left in the lurch.

Furthermore, SG couldn't get the EU-SG FTA endorsed by EU.  Sigh!

Fearmongering by USA for China's debts.

I really find this weird.  It seems to me that it's alright for USA to have high debts but not for China.

https://sg.finance.yahoo.com/news/chanos-says-more-stresses-apparent-043117903.html

USA household debts have reached USD$12.73b and the USA national debt is at USD$19.84t but all these debts won't hurt USA banks at all.  However, China's debts will hurt Chinese banks.  USA national debt of USD$19.84t is larger than China's GDP of USD$11t and it is able to accumulate such high debt because of USD reserve status.

Once this USD confidence is undermined, USA will go bankrupt and people around the world will lose confidence in USA banks too because nobody wants USD anymore.

Noble Group needs USD$2b for its survival. Let's see which bank(s) will loan to noble.

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/noble-group-lifeline-depends-bank-041457093.html

Commodity prices won't recover in the short time and the commodities markets will still be in the doldrum because China is reducing its commodities demands.

If Noble cannot get this USD$2b loan, it will be in serious trouble.  This will be like those oil&gas companies going bankrupt.  USD$2b is not a small sum and Noble won't get this from a single bank but from multiple banks if these banks still have confidence in Noble's repayment abilities.

As Noble is currently generating negative cash flows, I would say that the banks have little confidence in Noble.

The fight for KL-SG HSR is not over yet.

The Malaysian government awarded the KL-SG HSR to 3 consortiums which have limited knowledge and experience in building the HSR and excluded China from the HSR project bidding.  This exclusion angered China and China withdrew from the Bandar Malaysia deal.

I believe China will be able to win the HSR main construction deal because Malaysia has repented and learnt from its mistake.  Malaysia government has also signed some deals during the one-belt-one-road summit and made some promises to the China government too.

Let's see how this will pan out.

If North Korea is really a threat to China and Russia, they won't just sit by without taking further action.  China and Russia have very good radars to defend themselves.  Therefore, there is no need for USA to remind China and Russia that NK is a threat to them.

http://www.euractiv.com/section/economy-jobs/news/singapore-trade-deal-cannot-be-concluded-by-eu-alone-ecj-rules/

A company will survive if it is still producing positive cash flows despite negative profits.  However, a company won't make it when it's producing negative cash flows with positive profits.  Many profitable companies collapsed because of negative cash flows.  Warren Buffett prefers positive cash flow than positive profit.

Noble has a double whammy because it has a debt load which it can't handle and it's producing a negative cash flow.

New sea-rail link between China and Singapore is fishy.

http://en.people.cn/n3/2017/0510/c90000-9213546.html

There is something fishy about this new sea-rail link.  China can transport goods to Europe directly now with its railway.  Therefore, it doesn't make sense for China to transport goods to Europe via Singapore.  China can also ship its goods to South Africa via Myanmar or Pakistan port directly because its railways are connected to these 2 countries.  Likewise, China can ship its goods to USA directly too.  I really don't understand the rationale for this new sea-rail link as China can bypass Singapore with shorter shipping days.

Did China have a change of heart and decide to treat Singapore better?  I hope for the best outcome but remain cautious about this new sea-rail link.

Wow! China has automated its Shandong port.

China is really going high technology in many industries.  Truly amazing!

Hopefully, this new SK president can defuse the tension and make peace with China and NK.  THAAD is definitely something China & NK don't like.

Malaysia is at a crossroad now.

http://www.chinapost.com.tw/business/asia/malaysia/2017/05/08/496915/p3/Chinese-dealings.htm

Like it or not, China will be a domineering force in ASEAN and China has fostered strong relationships with Thailand, Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia which are very near to Malaysia.

If Malaysia doesn't want to deal with China, it will lose its strategic importance for China and also lose China's investments.  China will invest heavily in any country which is of strategic importance to China.  We just need to look at Myanmar and Cambodia where China is building ports and infrastructures in these countries.  As for Laos, China will be turning Laos into a transhipment hub as it is nicely snap-in among a few countries.

Malaysia will lose heavily if China starts to build port in Thailand or the Kra canal.  China can put the Kra canal project on hold as long as Malaysia continues to welcome China's investments because China wants to use Malaysia to contain Singapore.

China will take control of Myanmar port.

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-china-silkroad-myanmar-port-exclusive-idUSKBN1811DF

This deal is not as simple as it looks.

The truth is China gave up its myitsone dam project in exchange for this port control because the port is of strategic importance to China.

Myanmar faced tremendous pressure by locals who resisted the dam construction.

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/31/world/asia/myanmar-china-myitsone-dam-project.html

If Myanmar cancelled the dam project, it would have to pay a penalty of USD$800m which Myanmar couldn't afford.  Therefore, instead of asking Myanmar to pay the penalty, China preferred to take control of the port and pay Myanmar for the controlling stakes.  This strategic move will cost China about USD$10b in total.  When China deems something as strategic important, it is willing to pay for it.

http://www.waterpolitics.com/2017/04/19/the-thirsty-dragon-china-ostensibly-cancels-myitsone-dam-project-in-myanmar-in-favour-of-access-to-kyaukpyu-port/

Malacca Port (North of Singapore)

Myanmar Port (West of Singapore)

Pakistan Port (Further west of Singapore)

All these ports are linked by the one-belt-one-road initiatives (Railways) and China can totally bypass Singapore because it can upload and download goods from the eastern, northern and western of Singapore without going through Singapore.  We may not feel the impacts now but our future generations will feel the great impacts and they'll have to pay dearly for our current political positions.

OMG! Taiwan is going to drag Singapore into its fight against China.

http://www.intellasia.net/taiwans-pivot-south-on-track-says-tsai-592740

What a devious woman!

Taiwan is trying to drag Singapore into its fight against China.  Singapore is not a pawn and we must not let ourselves be used by Taiwan for its own selfish political gain.

We cannot give more reasons for China to whip Singapore.  China is adamant to reduce the strategic importance of Singapore's port by developing its own worldwide port networks so that its goods won't pass by Singapore.  Why? This is because SG is helping USA to contain China by providing USA a naval base in SG so that we can seal off strait of Malacca during war time.

Who was Singapore's first elected President? - Part 2.

https://sg.news.yahoo.com/tan-cheng-bock-files-court-challenge-term-count-elected-presidency-115325926.html

Finally! Someone is standing up to seek the truth when no Singaporean cares about it.  An elected president should be a presidential candidate who won with a majority vote count in an open election and not someone who was appointed but exercised presidential power.

Yuuzoo's auditor quitted because of financial concern.

This is definitely a warning sign for more troubles to come as perceived valuation of Yuuzoo's franchisee's shares can evaporate like a whiff of smoke.  Yuuzoo should be more upfront on the rationale and methodology used to value the shares and the concern raised by the auditor.  Why did the auditor disagree with the valuation?  Equities received in place of receivables meant that its franchisee was not doing well and couldn't pay the money owed.  Therefore, there must be massive writedown of the shares to be used to replace the debt owed to Yuuzoo as the on-going concern was hard to assess.

Therefore, it's no surprise that China doesn't view the whole project as strategic anymore.

Oil prices won't go higher in the future. Here's why!

USA had discovered some big oil fields recently that would put the world's pricing power in its hand.

Coupled with its shale oil technology, it is able to be self-sufficient and export its oil.  Therefore, its oil imports will start to dwindle and eventually stop and this will greatly affect the middle east oil markets.

Malaysia and Singapore must be regretting now for not getting China to build the HSR.

http://en.people.cn/n3/2017/0503/c90000-9210265.html

The current HSR speed is around 300km/hr and this current technology will be applied to the HSR between Singapore and Malaysia because not many nations can build HSR at much higher speed.

China's HSR speed will be hitting 400km/hr soon and this will make our current technology an obsolete technology.  Passengers who are used to 400km/hr will find our 300km/hr a tad too slow.

China's HSR speed will hit 600km/hr in the future which will be double our current speed now.  What a shame for a high-tech country like SG!

http://en.people.cn/n3/2017/0502/c90000-9209996.html

I think this is just a scare tactic deployed by USA to frighten NK into giving up its nuclear programme and force Kim to return to the round table discussion.  I hope that Kim will be succumbed to submission and not harbour a do or die attitude.  Kim has to put up a brave front or he will lose his respect and leadership.  This is something that cannot be taken lightly because he will go all out to save his face.

China also will not allow any nuclear war in NK because it will affect China's borders.
