The infected Chinese are dropping dead on China streets, in the eateries and offices.

China government is hiding the true situation and death rate. These leaked videos are showing the severity of the virus outbreak in China.

The pathological need to appear always right/perfect, and crackdown on all info / people who reveal ugly truths, that is the modus operandi of all authoritarian regimes. China wasted the critical first month or even 2 months by cracking down on people who started reporting or complaining about this new "pneumonia event".

Death rate in China is 2.16%.

Outside of China is 0.5% -- more than 4X lower -- why??? A lot due to lack of supplies to the most affected regions (maybe even deliberate??), ignorant methods & procedures by local authorities on the ground, and even cross (or forced) infections due to lack of quarantine places or simply local healthcare staff & security forces bochap or "you die better than I die" attitude.

Thousands of SMEs are going bankrupt now & very soon due to liquidity dry up. Beijing ordering everyone up & down the chain from banks, finance companies, shadow banks, suppliers, middlemen, intermediate companies, end companies, even end users & customers to close both eyes if any company cannot pay bills, or redeem bonds, or pay salaries, or pay loan interests, or fulfill contracts etc. 1 month, 2 months maybe (NS for the motherland). But 6 months, 1 year???

In spite of all these, there is still vast potential in China stocks once the virus blows over. Now is the time to sieve the wheat from the chaff. Am accumulating if & when there are big down days or weeks.; February 14, 2020 at 11:06 PM

China is a country that favours stability over many things and many mayors want to protect their rice bowls and choose to hide the truth from the central government. The central government has sacked the top officials in Hubei and Wuhan for not reporting the truth.

I agree that the death rate in China is much higher than the official rate and is also higher than in other countries. There are 3 fundamental reasons for the big difference in death tolls.

First is the potency of the virus. The virus will be weakened when it spreads from human to human. In a nutshell, the 1st generation virus is more potent than the 4th generation. A virus needs a host to replicate itself and it doesn't make sense for the virus to kill the host because it will defeat the purpose of replication in a host when the host dies. Therefore, the virus will adjust itself in a new host by weakening its potency. Thus, this may explain the higher death toll in China because the virus in China is the original virus (1st generation).

Second is the medical facilities and supplies. With such an overwhelming virus outbreak, it is obvious that China doesn't have an ample medical supply to cope with the ever-rising demands. Thus, many people are infected and there are also not enough medical facilities to handle the overwhelming patients. Singapore also cannot handle this if many people are infected.

Third is the deliberate transmission by some Chinese. This makes it difficult for China to contain the infectious virus.

Every virus outbreak will end eventually. The 2020 US flu virus infected more than 19m Americans and killed more than 10,000 people. However, this was not widely reported. Thus, if you compare the covid-19 virus to the US flu virus, the covid-19 virus is less serious than the US flu virus. Can we say that a democratic country like the US is worse than a communist China?
