Vietnam is not afraid to offend Taiwan for China to see.

Vietnam fined Formosa for USD$500m.

Vietnam clearly spelt out its one China policy.
http://en.nhandan.com.vn/politics/item/4939802-vietnam-china-issues-joint-communique.html

"The Vietnamese side affirmed to consistently pursue the one-China policy, support the peaceful development of Cross-Strait relations and China’s great cause of unification, and resolutely oppose actions for an “independent Taiwan” in any form. Vietnam does not develop any official ties with Taiwan. The Chinese side welcomes Vietnam’s stance."

What does China give to Vietnam in return?

China involves Vietnam deeply in its grandeur one-belt-one-road initiatives and helps Vietnam to get the financing it badly needs.

Project financing and railway construction.
http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2017-05/15/c_136286256.htm

However, China isolates SG from its one-belt-one-road initiatives because we don't spell out our one-China policy clearly and we help USA to contain China.  The devious Taiwan president even tried to use SG as a pawn against China.  Therefore, we should also use Taiwan as our leverage to get more economic benefits from China but Singapore just doesn't get it.

Bad news! China has isolated Singapore from its one-belt-one-road initiatives.

https://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2017-05-18/singapore-out-in-the-cold-as-southeast-asia-chases-china-cash

China snubbed SG and SG didn't manage to sign any deal with China for the one-belt-one-road initiatives while our neighbour, Malaysia, signed some deals with China during the summit.

http://en.people.cn/n3/2017/0514/c90000-9215022.html

There's also a rumour that SG proposed to engage Japan as the HSR main contractor but Malaysia rejected the notion because it preferred to engage China as HSR main contractor.

Singapore risks being ostracised in ASEAN now because other ASEAN members will have a common topic for discussion (one-belt-one-road) while Singapore will be left in the lurch.

Furthermore, SG couldn't get the EU-SG FTA endorsed by EU.  Sigh!

Fearmongering by USA for China's debts.

I really find this weird.  It seems to me that it's alright for USA to have high debts but not for China.

https://sg.finance.yahoo.com/news/chanos-says-more-stresses-apparent-043117903.html

USA household debts have reached USD$12.73b and the USA national debt is at USD$19.84t but all these debts won't hurt USA banks at all.  However, China's debts will hurt Chinese banks.  USA national debt of USD$19.84t is larger than China's GDP of USD$11t and it is able to accumulate such high debt because of USD reserve status.

Once this USD confidence is undermined, USA will go bankrupt and people around the world will lose confidence in USA banks too because nobody wants USD anymore.

Noble Group needs USD$2b for its survival. Let's see which bank(s) will loan to noble.

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/noble-group-lifeline-depends-bank-041457093.html

Commodity prices won't recover in the short time and the commodities markets will still be in the doldrum because China is reducing its commodities demands.

If Noble cannot get this USD$2b loan, it will be in serious trouble.  This will be like those oil&gas companies going bankrupt.  USD$2b is not a small sum and Noble won't get this from a single bank but from multiple banks if these banks still have confidence in Noble's repayment abilities.

As Noble is currently generating negative cash flows, I would say that the banks have little confidence in Noble.

The fight for KL-SG HSR is not over yet.

The Malaysian government awarded the KL-SG HSR to 3 consortiums which have limited knowledge and experience in building the HSR and excluded China from the HSR project bidding.  This exclusion angered China and China withdrew from the Bandar Malaysia deal.

I believe China will be able to win the HSR main construction deal because Malaysia has repented and learnt from its mistake.  Malaysia government has also signed some deals during the one-belt-one-road summit and made some promises to the China government too.

Let's see how this will pan out.

New sea-rail link between China and Singapore is fishy.

http://en.people.cn/n3/2017/0510/c90000-9213546.html

There is something fishy about this new sea-rail link.  China can transport goods to Europe directly now with its railway.  Therefore, it doesn't make sense for China to transport goods to Europe via Singapore.  China can also ship its goods to South Africa via Myanmar or Pakistan port directly because its railways are connected to these 2 countries.  Likewise, China can ship its goods to USA directly too.  I really don't understand the rationale for this new sea-rail link as China can bypass Singapore with shorter shipping days.

Did China have a change of heart and decide to treat Singapore better?  I hope for the best outcome but remain cautious about this new sea-rail link.

Wow! China has automated its Shandong port.

China is really going high technology in many industries.  Truly amazing!

Malaysia is at a crossroad now.

http://www.chinapost.com.tw/business/asia/malaysia/2017/05/08/496915/p3/Chinese-dealings.htm

Like it or not, China will be a domineering force in ASEAN and China has fostered strong relationships with Thailand, Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia which are very near to Malaysia.

If Malaysia doesn't want to deal with China, it will lose its strategic importance for China and also lose China's investments.  China will invest heavily in any country which is of strategic importance to China.  We just need to look at Myanmar and Cambodia where China is building ports and infrastructures in these countries.  As for Laos, China will be turning Laos into a transhipment hub as it is nicely snap-in among a few countries.

Malaysia will lose heavily if China starts to build port in Thailand or the Kra canal.  China can put the Kra canal project on hold as long as Malaysia continues to welcome China's investments because China wants to use Malaysia to contain Singapore.

China will take control of Myanmar port.

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-china-silkroad-myanmar-port-exclusive-idUSKBN1811DF

This deal is not as simple as it looks.

The truth is China gave up its myitsone dam project in exchange for this port control because the port is of strategic importance to China.

Myanmar faced tremendous pressure by locals who resisted the dam construction.

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/31/world/asia/myanmar-china-myitsone-dam-project.html

If Myanmar cancelled the dam project, it would have to pay a penalty of USD$800m which Myanmar couldn't afford.  Therefore, instead of asking Myanmar to pay the penalty, China preferred to take control of the port and pay Myanmar for the controlling stakes.  This strategic move will cost China about USD$10b in total.  When China deems something as strategic important, it is willing to pay for it.

http://www.waterpolitics.com/2017/04/19/the-thirsty-dragon-china-ostensibly-cancels-myitsone-dam-project-in-myanmar-in-favour-of-access-to-kyaukpyu-port/

Malacca Port (North of Singapore)

Myanmar Port (West of Singapore)

Pakistan Port (Further west of Singapore)

All these ports are linked by the one-belt-one-road initiatives (Railways) and China can totally bypass Singapore because it can upload and download goods from the eastern, northern and western of Singapore without going through Singapore.  We may not feel the impacts now but our future generations will feel the great impacts and they'll have to pay dearly for our current political positions.

http://www.intellasia.net/taiwans-pivot-south-on-track-says-tsai-592740

What a devious woman!

Taiwan is trying to drag Singapore into its fight against China.  Singapore is not a pawn and we must not let ourselves be used by Taiwan for its own selfish political gain.

We cannot give more reasons for China to whip Singapore.  China is adamant to reduce the strategic importance of Singapore's port by developing its own worldwide port networks so that its goods won't pass by Singapore.  Why? This is because SG is helping USA to contain China by providing USA a naval base in SG so that we can seal off strait of Malacca during war time.

This is definitely a warning sign for more troubles to come as perceived valuation of Yuuzoo's franchisee's shares can evaporate like a whiff of smoke.  Yuuzoo should be more upfront on the rationale and methodology used to value the shares and the concern raised by the auditor.  Why did the auditor disagree with the valuation?  Equities received in place of receivables meant that its franchisee was not doing well and couldn't pay the money owed.  Therefore, there must be massive writedown of the shares to be used to replace the debt owed to Yuuzoo as the on-going concern was hard to assess.

The current HSR speed is around 300km/hr and this current technology will be applied to the HSR between Singapore and Malaysia because not many nations can build HSR at much higher speed.

China's HSR speed will be hitting 400km/hr soon and this will make our current technology an obsolete technology.  Passengers who are used to 400km/hr will find our 300km/hr a tad too slow.

China's HSR speed will hit 600km/hr in the future which will be double our current speed now.  What a shame for a high-tech country like SG!

It's a lose-lose situation for Kim if he pushes ahead with the nuclear test.  He should just accept China's proposition to drop his nuclear development in exchange for China's defence/protection plan.  China is capable of defending NK now.

Wow! China maybe the first country to build a vacuum train.

http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/china/2017-04/26/content_29091266.htm

This is the latest transportation technology which can travel at 2900km/hr which is about 3x the speed of a commercial airliner.

China has really improved by leaps and bounds in engineering technology. No wonder it can complete the carrier construction in 3 years.

China is increasing its trading with EU by railway.

https://sg.news.yahoo.com/first-direct-london-china-train-completes-12-000-024752742.html

What can I say? Well done!  This will definitely help to cushion the economic impacts of Brexit for UK.

EU inflation is heating up.

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/european-bonds-slide-core-inflation-102153013.html

Interest rates won't stay low for too low because of increasing inflations.  Governments around the globe will definitely increase interest rates.  Those who are behind the yield curve will definitely pay a much higher price because their economies will have more knee-jerk reactions due to the magnitude increases.

Therefore, it is a matter of WHEN, not IF that interest rates will rise.

China's one-belt-one-road initiatives are increasing trades.

http://en.people.cn/n3/2017/0428/c90000-9209056.html

China has shown that its one-belt-one-road initiatives are beneficial to all trading partners with trading figures in the double digits growth.

Kudos to China for improving world trades.

There won't be any war in Korean peninsula unless China agrees.

http://en.people.cn/n3/2017/0428/c90000-9209089.html

No wonder China and Russia have amassed troops at the borders because China has drawn a red line for US, NK & SK.  The troops are not just to manage war refugees at the borders but also to defend NK if US & SK attack it.

USA economy is not as resilient as thought.

https://sg.news.yahoo.com/us-growth-hits-3-low-0-7-trumps-132946785.html

US growth is faltering but its contribution is not as huge as China.  Therefore, it's more important to monitor China economic growth.

Conflict of interest between USA & Japan

https://sg.finance.yahoo.com/news/japan-not-concessions-two-way-trade-talks-u-020810258--business.html

USA president and Japan PM are supported by farmers and it's very difficult to back down on either side on agricultural trades because both will lose political powers if they do not protect their own farming industries.

We foresee Japan to be the greater loser as Japan's economic power is nowhere near USA's.

LOL! Trump is demanding protection fee from South Korea.

https://sg.news.yahoo.com/seoul-rejects-trump-demand-pays-missile-system-042006455.html

Guess what! South Korea is not paying for THAAD and THAAD will be kicked out of SK after the tension subsides in North Korea peninsula.

Nobody will pay for a useless defence system as it cannot defend against low flying rockets.

Something is seriously wrong with Trump's grandeur plan.

http://www.latimes.com/politics/washington/la-na-essential-washington-updates-trump-wants-to-cut-business-rate-to-15-1493215127-htmlstory.html

How is he going to plug the budget deficit that he's creating with all the fiscal spending, military expansion and corporate tax cut? Money doesn't just drop from the sky unless he's planning to print money again.

How can the government continue to finance welfare benefits such as unemployment claims, medicare and so on with lesser tax receipts?

SGX is finding increasingly hard to attract companies to list.

https://sg.finance.yahoo.com/news/more-chinese-firms-saying-goodbye-044700267.html

SGX is nothing compared to HKEX as HKEX is 10x bigger than SGX.  SGX can only attract mid-size and small companies to come to list on SGX.

When China companies don't come to SG, SG stock valuations will fall because of illiquidity.

North Korean missiles were made from UK components.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4436180/Why-UK-parts-turning-Korean-missiles.html

UK is trying to exonerate itself from North Korean missiles now like what it did when UK approved export of nerve gas chemical to Syria.

NASA captured UFO on cam in space again.

US space station captured an UFO which could go invisible.

Thailand has bought China military arsenal.

https://sg.news.yahoo.com/thai-junta-defends-cheap-393-mn-chinese-sub-041435682.html

Thailand and China have formed military pact through these purchases as the thais will be trained by the chinese.

The Thais sure know how to diversify their weaponry and not rely just on USA.  This is definitely a good strategic move as Thailand won't be restricted by one nation.

China naval military prowess.

China has certainly improved by leaps and bounds and cannot be underestimated.

China is trying to erode Singapore's financial hub.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-04-12/chinese-backers-said-to-plan-derivatives-exchange-in-singapore

The one-belt-one-road initiatives will definitely erode Singapore's sea hub status and this will diminish our port annual handling volumes.  China is trying to erode our financial hub status by setting up an asia pacific exchange now.  Our stock exchange is not doing well lately with many delistings and SGX has difficulty in attracting big companies to list in Singapore.  SGX will be marginalised with this upcoming China's asia exchange.

Trump has enraged South Korea.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4431840/AP-Explains-How-single-Trump-sentence-enraged-South-Korea.html

Factually speaking, South Korea did pay tributes to China for a long period of time.  However, this antagonization is not about history but more for political reason.

South Korea is making a big fuss because it is afraid to be sold out by USA.  Trump is offending SK deliberately because he knows the next SK president may not want to install THAAD.  This incident may actually force SK to accept the THAAD installation because SK doesn't want to be sold out.

OMG! Russia is troop massing along North Korea border.

http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/794110/russia-north-korea-border-vladimir-putin-relocating-tanks-and-troops

It's strange that Russia is moving its troops to North Korea border as it has only about 17.6km long border with North Korea which is nothing compared to China.  This military movement shows that Russia will definitely get involved in the war if USA attacks North Korea.

China has already moved 150,000 troops to its North Korea border and has prepared its bombers for the war.

http://www.businessinsider.com/china-150000-troops-north-korea-xi-trump-2017-4?IR=T&r=US&IR=T

USA lied about sending its 3 aircraft carriers to North Korea.

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/04/18/world/asia/aircraft-carrier-north-korea-carl-vinson.html?_r=0

As posted previously, there would be a tell-tale sign of USA military attack against NK.  However, we see no such sign and we're right because USA carriers are not in sight near NK.

What a joke!
