Although Waze has rejected Malaysian government's allegation, anecdotal evidence shows that Waze has security lapses that allow leaked personal data (identifications and travel movements) to be sold on the dark web.
Someone had put 7.7m Waze users' data on the dark web for sale and Waze didn't address this security risk and stolen data. Can you imagine that anybody who has these data will know the users' residential locations, travel patterns, work places, and even some sensitive or classified government locations?
