Omg! China has displaced Hong Kong with ShenZhen in the greater bay development.

The HK protestors have just killed their own future and they must be celebrating their "success" now.

China has decided to displace HK with Shenzhen in the greater bay developments with many favourable economic and preferential policies.  HK will lose its importance over time and its economic developments will slow down over time too.

These Hongkongers will need to travel to Shenzhen to find work in the future because HK cannot generate enough job opportunities for these 1.7m protestors in the future with weak economic growth.  HK has fallen from its financial hub pedestal and will never rise back to its glorious heyday again.

RIP, HK!

This Shenzhen development plan will marginalize HK because it is targeting all HK fundamental businesses.

The plan will develop Shenzhen into a transportation hub, a financial hub and a MICE hub. Can Shenzhen overtake HK? Yes! Why?

Shenzhen population is double that of HK's and its GDP is higher than HK now. China has been curtailing Shenzhen's economic developments because China wants to preserve HK fundamentals. However, China has changed its political stance and decided to displace HK with Shenzhen. Therefore, with the government preferential support and the current economic structure of Shenzhen especially in high technology sector, Shenzhen can overtake HK easily.

Why did China give up on HK?

China had been giving a lot o preferential treatments to HK because China felt that it let HK down. HK was seized by the UK in the opium war because China refused to let the UK poison the Chinese with opium by banning it. Thus, the democratic UK approved in parliament to attack China because the opium ban deprived the UK of huge sales revenue.

Since getting back HK in 1997, China had been treating HK way better than other provinces. China constructed a nuclear power plant in Shenzhen to supply very cheap electricity to HK and the cost of electricity was even cheaper than in other provinces. Furthermore, China sold better quality farm produce and higher quality of water to HK. China also managed and kept the nuclear waste generated by the nuclear power station in the mainland.

China had been pampering HK like a long lost child but this child didn't know how to reciprocate kindness and love bestowed by China. China was deeply disappointed with HK and decided to transfer its love to Shenzhen because Shenzhen was sacrificed to maintain HK prosperity.
